- Vascular Access devices (VAD) and selection criteria
- VAD Flushing and locking protocols
- CVAD site assessment and dressing change
- PICC and midline associated DVT assessment
- Blood specimen collection through CVADs
- Accessing and de-accessing Ports
- De-clotting CVADs with cathflo Alteplase
- Removing PICC and non-tunneled CVADs
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM – IV Skill Enhancement Workshop
- Venous anatomy and peripheral catheter insertion site selection
- Methods to palpate and locate veins
- IV catheter insertion and troubleshooting technique
- Peripheral IV related common complications
- Documentation guidelines
Practice session: Attendees practice to palpate and identify veins on each other and then insert IV catheter on an advanced venipuncture aid.
